1st & 6th

Steve Scalise will be the next Representative to the US Congress from Louisiana's 1st District.

Meanwhile, there's a race in Baton Rouge and environs.

It's not really a fair comparison, but I'm optimistic about the size of the votes in the party primaries. Only a little over 24,000 votes were cast in the Republican race in the 6th yesterday, while nearly 35,000 Democrats cast ballots in their election. It doesn't necessarily mean anything about the general, but having an energized voting base for a closed primary runoff could translate into stronger support in the general election.
